Friends in Motion's Curriculum
Our "Free Movement" class allows students to learn tools to help them in both dancing and their everyday lives including the practice of skills such as decision making, patience, and memorization. Designed for all ages, abilities, and genders, this class is highly successful in providing individuals with an outlet for exercise through dance that is engaging, exciting, and beneficial to their physical and cognitive functionality. We focus on skills from multiple dance styles, and even include specific categories that students request or express interest in! This class is sensory conscious and allows for a diverse range of movement styles.
Our "Tap Dance" class is rooted a classic dance style that can be of interest to anyone! We offer options to tap dance while holding on to a balance support, sitting down, or even using alternative noise makers with one's hands and arms instead of wearing tap shoes. This class will challenge students to use skills such as musicality and counting and encourages both tapping to the rhythm of their own drum and creating beats in conjunction with the rest of the class. Please note that this class includes loud noises and is not always the best fit for everyone for sensory purposes.
All of our dance classes happily welcome students who require the use of durable medical equipment and assistive devices.
Classes are currently running throughout New Jersey - for our current schedule, please fill our our inquiry form!
